October 27 202431/10/2024 If you’ve been thinking about playing pétanque, but feel intimidated about fronting up and looking foolish against experienced players, consider this.
Our last two club games have been won by a teenager who’s been playing only a few months and a guy with even less time on the pistes. 13 year old Memphis won her three games and took first prize two weeks ago, and then Mick Ryan from Kangaroo Flat won first prize (and a bottle of the club’s fine wine) last weekend. Mick has played only a few games with the Bendigo club, but he’s keen and has obviously been practising! He commented after his day at Maldon “ Thanks for a great day and great company and amazing coaching”. We’re a friendly mob, rest assured you’ll be welcomed and guided through the basics and who knows…?… after a short while - and the favours of the Pétanque gods - you could be a Memphis or a Mick!
